It's A Baby Card!

I made this card, using the Mojo Monday sketch, for a lady in my MOPS group who is having a baby in about two weeks. She's having a boy so instantly I knew that I wanted to use the blue and green pattern papers from Twitterpated. I just love that color combination of Sweet Leaf and Crystal Blue! I used the giraffe from It's A Zoo, the sentiment from Childhood, and the sweet boy from Sweet Baby. After I finished the card, it just felt a little too clean so I took the edge distresser and roughed up all the edges. I LOVE how it turned out.

Christmas Card Workshops

Christmas is coming up fast so now if a great time to get your Christmas cards finished before the business of the season really sets in. This year I will be offering two different card sessions. One session will be on Friday, November 13th from 6:30-9:00pm and the other will be on Saturday, November 21st from 3:00-5:30pm.

Here are the details: You can chose to make 10 cards for $15 or 20 cards for $30. You can chose to either do the 10 Evensong cards (more traditional colors) or the 10 Jingle cards or both. We will be doing both sets of cards at both sessions so your card choice does not dictate with class you must attend. Space is going to be limited so please rsvp as soon as possible!

October Card Workshop Part 2

Here are the final two cards we will be making at our workshop tomorrow.

October Card Workshop

This coming Wednesday is my monthly card workshop. Since the leaves have started falling, I was inspired to do some very fall-ish cards and it just so happens that the Grace level 2 pack lends itself perfectly to fall cards. We will be making 5 cards for $10 and I will be teaching some new fun techniques such as making realistic looking leaves and the stamp and repeat technique.

Here are 3 of the 5 cards that we will be making. The other two will be posted tomorrow.

Workshop Cards

I have had several requests to see the cards that we made at our last card class. I usually have them posted before the class, however, the last month has really gotten away from me. Nonetheless, here they are. We actually made 6 cards and I immediately sent one off the my mother-in-law for her birthday so that one, which was also my favorite, it missing but I'll be making another one and posting it soon.

We used the Twitterpated Level 2 pack, the hedgehog stamp set that comes exclusively in the workshop-on-the-go kits, the Many Thanks stamp set, and the Birthday stamp set.

Animal Cookies Layouts

In July I put Noah in our county fair's baby contest. I had always wanted to enter my child into it because it seemed like it would be so much fun. So, when I found out that I would be moving back home in time to enter, I just had to do it!

As we were waiting for the late judges to arrive, a grandma behind me was saying that there were just so many cute babies and she didn't know how they were going to pick the winners. She looked at her daughter and said, "It's a good thing this is all just for fun!" I thought to myself, "Of course I'm doing this for the fun of it, but it won't be fun unless we win!" It's a good thing Noah took the Happiest Baby award or else my pages may have turned out differently!

A Few Cards

I'm teaching a card class this Wednesday night and I just wanted to post a few that we will be making. We'll make 7 cards for $10 and they'll be learning a variety of stamping techniques. I loved the colors and patterns in the Key To My Heart paper pack so we'll be using them for our cards.

I have found myself in need of a lot of cards lately and for a variety of reasons. Because of this, I've decided to allow each of the attendees to decide the sentiment for each card. I think it's going to be a great evening!

Another Baby Card

Shew! This is the last baby card that I'll be needing for a while, at least as far as I know. I'm preparing to do a scrapbook yard sale with my customers and friends next weekend and, as I was sorting through things, I came across a lot of leftover paper from our Cocoa Cafe promotion from at least two years ago. I loved the pink and green pages so I was inspired to use then to make this final card.

The card design is an old Mojo Monday sketch and was fairly simple. I was afraid it was going to be too simple and I wasn't going to like it but, as it turns out, this may be my favorite card out of all the ones I made. I love that it has an elegant feel to it and that made it perfect for the mommy-to-be!

Mojo Monday Week 86 and Boom Di Ada

It seems like I know 100 people having babies in the next two months so I've been needing a lot of baby cards lately. A former coworker of Isaac's is having a little girl next month and since we're going to see her tonight I needed to whip a card up for her. I'm tired of using all the typical pastels so I decided to go with an older paper pack with non-traditional baby colors and see what I could do. I rather like the final result.

I tried sponging the edges of my stamped images this time to help take away some of the blank white space and I think it looks pretty good. I like to ink my edges to give that distressed look but that was too harsh of a look for this card. The sponge gives it a nice soft look while adding some extra color. I hope she likes it!

Color Me Monday Card

My cousin is getting married in Jamaica next week so I needed to make her a card. Jeanette Lynton, founder of Close To My Heart, is now doing color challenges on her blog so I used last week's Color Me Monday color combination as the inspiration for my card.

My cousin isn't a real girly girly and their wedding is pretty low key so I wanted to keep the card simple but reflective of the beach wedding they are going to be having. The colors I used are Heavenly Blue, Garden Green, Desert Sand, Sorbet, and White Daisy. I am pretty pleased with how this card turned out.

Mojo Monday Week 85 and Animal Cookies

I absolutely love this new paper pack, Animal Cookies. I've already done the Workshop On the Go with this kit and I can't wait until Noah is a little older and I can take pictures to use in those layouts. My good friend, Angie, is having her second son in June so I needed a card to send with her baby gift. This paper was the perfect fit and I made it using the scraps from my Workshop layouts. I am thrilled with how it turned out!

Mojo Monday Week 84

It seems like I have a lot of events coming up shortly for which I'll be needing cards. So I've been browsing blogs because it seems to me that the only way I'll get cards done for all these events is by participating in challenges. I love a good challenge, and I love winning even better!

I've heard of Mojo Monday before and I know a lot of people that do their challenges so I decided to start with their challenge this week. I obviously need two Mother's Day cards this year so I decided to start with those. Here is a copy of the sketch from Mojo Monday
and here is the card that I made.

I'm not sure which mother will be getting this particular card yet but I'm seriously impressed with myself for getting it finished. Noah and I have been having sort of a rough week and yesterday was particularly taxing on me and my nerves. I think he's going through a growth spurt and doesn't want to give in to his feelings of exhaustion. Isaac is home today and I'm SO glad for the reprieve.

I have a few other card challenges that I'm planning on working on today so who knows, I may have multiple posts this week! LOL.

Easter Layouts

Wow, I've been working on these pages for a week now. I can't believe how long it has taken me! Noah really takes up my scrapping time. The only way I finished these was by moving a small table into our bedroom and scrapping from 9-11:30pm before he wakes up for a feeding. But, alas, they are finally done!

We had such a wonderful trip home for Easter, however brief it was. It was a joy to see my Grandparents hold Noah. He did wonderfully on both plane rides and was a trooper being passed from person to person. He's a little celebrity in his own right.

Welcome To My Blog!

I am so excited to finally be creating a blog on which to share my artwork and the wonderful products Close To My Heart has to offer! I have been a scrapbooker for the better part of 10 years and a consultant with Close To My Heart for nearly 4 years now. I became a consultant after attending a gathering and seeing both how easy it was to do what the consultant did and how amazing the range of products they offered was. I wanted to purchase everything in the catalog that day. I did a little research and found that the benefits offered to the consultants were substantial and within a week I had signed up. I have been sharing my passion with others ever since!

What can you expect from this blog? First and foremost, you'll find my personal artwork created with the wide array of products offered by Close To My Heart to both inspire you and to provide ideas on how to use these products. Secondly, I'll keep you up to date on all the specials and promotions being offered by Close To My Heart. Thirdly, I'll post pictures and information about my classes and workshops so that you'll never miss a project. (Not in my area? No problem! I have many customers across the country that participate in both classes and workshops by mail. They receive everything they need to create the same projects and can do it at their leisure.) Finally, you'll find lots of stories about life in the Yang house and what a circus it can be!

I hope that you enjoy my blog and be sure to leave comments. I look forward to getting to know many other paper addicts out there and keeping in contact with those already in my "support group"!
